Le Petit Gateux

Works of art and masterpieces share one thing in common ; patience and a whole lot of effort!

It took me months and finally I managed to do it! Finally made that decorated almond sponge I have always wanted. Threw bags of almonds and cartons of eggs just trying to get the right springiness. Started with apple green tuilend swooshed my piping bag all across and ended up with some random design.

Alas, it's done.

Feels like painting. The only difference, it's edible.

Raspeberry Mousse

Just had a go at plated desert today! :) Just sticking to the simple basics and this post chronicles on what began as a white plate...to a well erm...filled one? :D!

Luckily managed to get some help from my chefs and some of my friends :P! Enjoy yo~

So let's start with a clean plate *duh* :D

Next, we have our sauce. Just pull it anyway you want.

Then, the mousse goes on top! * gentle *

Get a nice curved chocolate deco and place it with the raspberries. ( Forgive this obscene picture )

Add the chocolate dipped strawberry at the corner! Tada!

With some final touch ups . . . regards to the chef and my friends :)

Chocolate Confections

Scroll down for more! :)!

Well it's been a busy few weeks lately so could not upload any stufffzz lately :)! but i had a great opportunity to get my nifty hands on some chocolate lessons! - proved to be one awesome lesson!

Let's start of with a brief introduction. Since we were all toddlers, from the very first moment we could get our teeth on those lovely chocolate bars and candies..we were craving them ever since.

After brushing them with some colour-ed edible dust! :D

The close up . . . ( the shine....*_* )

From that crisp and lovely snap the moment we tear that lovely bar of chocolate apart like hounds feeding on their prey after months of starvation, to that very bittersweet end that melts down our mouth and that orgasmic sensation that lingers to the very bottom of our tummy! We all crave chocolate ( well most of us! heh :D )

So I had the chance to make myself some! From a decent and fairly good quality chocolate and not those store bought chocolate blocks which promote cancer! Yes, they have some vegetable fats which I believe to be hydrogenated fat ( CANCER-OUS I TELL YOU! ).

Anyways enough with my grandma stories and feast your eyes on these :)!

Some Belgian Chocolate Shells :)

CHOCOLATE BAR!! RAWRRRR!

During my last few days . . .

*shinyyyyy*

*glosssssyyyyy*

PS : I just realised too much chocolate can make you nose bleed LOL! - It happened...twice -__-"

Types of chocolate were Eggnog Ganache and Star Anise Ganache.

Strawberry Bavarois

How can anyone resist that tantalizing scarlet berry! As it mocks you behind those green leaves waiting for you to sink your teeth into a succulent sweet ( well not so sweet here in Malaysia ) juices! Ah..talk about orgasmic mouth sensations!

Well unfortunately the strawberry jams we get here are 99% sugar and 1% real strawberry *sighs*..anyhow..how can one resist that seductive red glow! I mean it looks good on lingerie..it has to look good on cakes as well right? :D

Ahah! anyways..enjoy a little something I came up with :)!

Notice the sad sad leaves on the strawberries :( ..it's hard to find nice ones these days lol

Well time to bite into my pudding like cake ;)! enjoy!

Chocolate Macarons

Ah..had another go at the macs! Looking pretty dandy this time around :)! Had the idea of brushing the macs with a little coffee *nescafe cough cough* from mytartlette.com ( one of the prettiest macs i've seen around! ) ahahah! so wanted to give it a go and daaaaaaaaaaaaaammm they look stunning! thumbs up tartlette! :)!

So here we have the little brush trick that works all the time :) A swipe on the plate to test the consistency and off we go!

Before we knew it...we had a plate full of it LOL!

Looks pretty tempting yea don't ya think? :)

Well that aside..i was a little bored and decided to try something different by being a bit daring with the shells!

Slice almonds on the top with the pretty baby blue is kinda cute! LOL! The filling looks like a tongue from this angle -_-"

The leaning tower of macs! No need go Paris already :D

Well before heading back, I decided to pack some :P

The one at the far end looks like green oreo! LOL

Ah well hope that wraps it up! Gotta get more going soon! phew~

Matcha Cake With Chocolate Mousse

Ahah! another long week has passed and I have a cake to settle for one of my friends! So it was time to put on my thinking cap ( never really had one though T__T ) and come up with some cake ideas!

Didn't want to do any of the boring ones again ... so then the idea of red velvet cake came along! *gotta love the contrast of colours in it :)* and haihz...sadly there weren't any red colouring so then I just opted for a green tea approach :P and hence it was time to visit my two lovely wives to get things rolling!

After sweating a whole evening getting the parts all assembled ... it was finally done!

ooo..wonder whats behind that mould eh....

Alright alright ..after some torching on the sides ( I think I should have just used a spatula instead! LOL! cause I think I melted some of the mousse *sighs* Take a look below.

Sighs...oh well guess I'll just try to cover that mess with some better deco on the top! Luckily managed to get some strawberries from the grocer nearby! And after some fiddling...

Decided to use my trusty old flamethrower!

And after some STRESSFUL PIPING! *sweats* oh and not to mention some simple chocolate deco just for the heck of it :)

But something just wasn't enough :)! . . .

Now I'm satisfied! :)

Gawwwddd! I din know it was more stressful making cakes back home then it is at college! LOL! Well not to mention my desert-like kitchen which melts every single diary product alive just letting it sit on the counter!

All in all..it was certainly a fun day! With tonnes of memories to be kept throughout that day! *winks* Well this last pic just wraps it all up : A sweet and juicy ending to a blissful day :)! It's time to hit the sack!
